Steve Paine

Born: Jan. 7, 1961
2005: Concentrating on Canandaigua (NY) Speedway and the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series in ‘05, this season-long ‘Elite 11’ driver captured the Canandaigua big-block crown and settled for seventh in the overall Hoosier-Sunoco Mr. DIRT points chase. His collection of the Canandaigua hardware came with the help of four feature race triumphs at the ‘Land of Legends’ while four front-five finishes were tallied in 20 Advance Auto Parts extra-distance events.
Career: A two-time overall Mr. DIRT 358-Modified champion, Paine joins the Brothers Johnson as the only drivers to capture DIRT MotorSports NorthEast’s most coveted titles in both big-block and small-block divisions. Along with the 2000 Mr. DIRT Modified crown, the ‘Hurricane’ was voted DIRT NorthEast Driver of the Year in 1991. He has scored 255 (159 BB, 96 SB) open-wheel wins and is also ranked among the top-10 in tour victories with 26 (7th) Advance Auto Parts Modified and 27 (4th) 358-Modified Super DIRT Series checkered flags taken since graduating from the Late Model ranks in 1982. Paine established a track record in 2005 by securing is sixth straight Modified points championship at Canandaigua.
