2009 Season Review: Jumping from 10th in points to 5th in the final overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar standings made 2009 the most successful series ever for rising star Justin Haers in his sixth season on tour. He reached the Top-10 in tour points for the third time in his career on the strength of 13 Top-10s, with half of his 4 front-fives registered in the two of the last three events. After earning his first qualifying award in 2004, a five-year wait for the Phelps, N.Y. driver was well worth it as he set his second Integra Shocks Fast Time in record fashion at Merrittville Speedway. Strapped into the Haers Bros. Racing no. 3 Phelps Cement Products-SMV Motorsports-Jeff Jolly Masonry/Bicknell machine, T-Bone’ led two features for 22 laps and scored a pair of heat race wins while taking eight checkered flags in the DIRTcar Racing NE weekly wars at Can-Am Motorsports Park.

Series History: Until the ’09 campaign, he finished a career-best eighth in the 2005 Mr. DIRTcar standings with nine Top-10 Series finishes, posting his lone Integra Shocks Fast Time at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in ’04 --- the same year he was honored as DIRTcar Northeast's top Big-Block rookie. That year Hears finished 12th in overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Modified points (4 top-10 finishes).

DIRTcar Racing Record: Now with eight checkered flags taken at Can-Am Motorsports Park and seven more at Cayuga County since 2002, 19 Big-Block feature wins have been scored at four different tracks. Haers has also triumphed in 358-Modified competition and owns 14 victories in the DIRTcar Sportsman ranks. He has claimed two track point championships in both 358-Modified (Cayuga County) and Sportsman Modified (Canandaigua, Rolling Wheels) divisions during the new millennium.

Fun Fact: After being engaged to Melanie Wiesner since the summer of 2006, Justin finally tied the knot with DIRTcar Sportsman Modified racer Danny Wiesner’s sister on March 28, 2009; the same date as the 2009 Series opener at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway that was ultimately cancelled due to rain. 2010 will be Justin’s first racing as a father after Melanie gave birth to their first child, Emma Rose, on January 26.
