2007 Season Review: Coming off his best season ever, Phelps remains one of the most consistent competitors on tour despite just three full seasons under his belt following the demanding Advance Auto Parts Series. He has quickly emerged as the headline ‘house’ driver for Troyer as he looks at continuing his climb toward capturing a first career Mr. DIRTcar Modified Championship. The ‘B’Ville Blizzard’ hovered around the front-five all season, settling for fourth-place in the final standings with his lone Series trophy collected on Labor Day at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. Contending in all 32 Advance Series stops, Phelps led four races for 118 laps, scored three heat race victories and saved the best for last celebrating his only Integra Shocks Fast Time award qualifying for the Rite Aid 200 during Super DIRT Week on the Syracuse Mile. On the local circuit, he copped Empire State track titles at Cayuga County Fair and Fulton speedways and was high-point man at Rolling Wheels while logging 10 DIRTcar Big-Block feature wins.

Advance Auto Parts Series History: The confident Central New York chauffeur has improved every year, moving from ninth in the 2005 overall Mr. DIRTcar Big-Block standings to fourth last season with three tour triumphs tallied along the way. Phelps made his debut with the H&H Motorsports/Troyer tandem in June of ’05 at Lernerville (Pa.) Speedway, the end result was fourth quick time before rain pushed the Advance Auto Parts Series show into August. He went on to set two more fast times, win some qualifying heats and lead some feature race laps yet still had to wait until the next summer to claim his first career tour triumph closer to home at Brewerton (NY) Speedway in August of 2006 en route to seventh-place in the Mr. DIRTcar title run. Also setting four career Integra Shocks Fast Times, Phelps added his first out-of-state win in ’06 at Williams Grove (Pa.) Speedway before returning to victory lane for a third time last summer at The Wheels.

DIRTcar Racing Record: Prior to Phelps’ 2005 campaign, his only Advance Auto Parts Series experience outside of his Central New York neighborhood was generated at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Lowe's (N.C.) Dirt Track, and the most tour events run in a single season were a half-dozen. Phelps now owns 19 career DIRTcar Big-Block feature wins --- with his ’07 total of 10 more than tripling his best previous output (3 in ’06) --- and nine in 358-Modified competition with two more in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified ranks.
Fun Facts: While his growing household of wife Shannon and daughters Ashley and Sadie takes up the majority of any free time away from racing, other than his job in the family business working for father Andy (owner) and uncle Jim Bowman in the maintenance shop, Phelps enjoys snowmobiling and music, catching episodes of his favorite television show ‘The Office’ and rooting for the NFL Miami Dolphins on the gridiron.
