2009 Season Review: The most prolific driver in DIRTcar’s Big-Block traveling show, Hearn continued his success last season garnering three tour wins in the Northeastern Modified Super DIRTcar Series en route to a record-setting seventh overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship worth a lucrative $50,000. The Garden State ace used tour bests of 13 top-5 and 17 top-10 finishes in the 20-race title run, extending his all-time high series count to 103 victories. Hearn kicked off the seven-month SDS with a trio of consecutive top-3 finishes and only got better after that, capturing two of the next three main events at Ransomville and Brockville Ontario speedways, eventually establishing another single-season mark of 10 straight top-5s to begin the series. The ‘Corporate Jet’ rallied for a third triumph on Labor Day at Rolling Wheels Raceway yet still needed to survive a faulty transmission yoke in the Super DIRT Week Rite Aid 200 at Syracuse to wind up 20th and eke out a four-point margin in the final point standings. Along the way he copped seven preliminary heat race wins and led 391 laps in seven main events while setting his lone Integra Shocks fast time at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in September. The 34-year open-wheel veteran also scored two more feature wins in DIRTcar Big-Block competition, including the 50-lap Florida DIRTcar Nationals finale in February. 2009 also marked Hearn’s promotional debut, presenting ‘The Big One’ at Orange County Fair Speedway in June which attracted a summer series-high total of 62 entries.

Series History: The seven-time overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champion ranks first in Super DIRTcar Series wins (103) and holds the Modified Tour mark of 10 wins ---matched by Billy Decker in ’08--- in a single season (2002) with at least one Series victory registered in 25 different years. With extra distance main events remaining his forte, Hearn has captured a Big-Block best five titles in the Super DIRT Week Rite Aid 200 on the Syracuse Mile and eight in the Eastern States 200 at Orange County, while taking top honors in the former 200-lappers held at Lebanon Valley (6) and Rolling Wheels (4). He has posted 76 top-five finishes (28 wins) in 159 DIRTcar “200s” that have counted toward the Mr. DIRTcar Championship since 1980. Hearn also ranks 2nd on the Series speed chart with 41 career Integra Shocks Fast Times set, including single lap records established at two venues highlighted by The Dirt Track @ Charlotte (NC) where the Big-Blocks make their return in ’10 for the November World Finals.
